Application Process and Additional Information
SMU Institute for Young Pianists Application:
3-Step Process 1. Complete the online application form by clicking below when it appears. Application deadline May 15, 2021. 2. Submit YouTube or DropBox links to your audition videos including TWO memorized pieces of contrasting style. Recordings via iPhone in your own home or studio will work well. Be sure to capture pianist’s hands and face. Set audio levels appropriately. Intermediate and Early Advanced levels: A wide range of levels include a minimum of a Bach Minuet and a movement of a Clementi Sonatina up to repertoire at the level of Mozart Sonata, K. 545 and a Grieg Nocturne. Advanced level: Examples of minimum repertoire level include Chopin Nocturne in B Major, Op. 32 and Haydn Sonata in E Flat Major, Hob XVI/32. Students in the advanced level receive longer lessons (45 minutes daily), longer masterclasses (90 minutes daily), longer practice time blocks, and special lecture classes.
